Arthritis Research Campaign

Golfers are only too aware of the potential for painful joint damage leading from incorrect techniques and insufficient warm-up. But like other people who take part in sport regularly they are also aware that exercise is one of the best ways of preventing the pain of arthritis from getting worse, and keeping the body fit and healthy.
The Arthritis Research Campaign (arc) is the fourth largest medical research charity in the UK and the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to investigating arthritis in all its forms. Millions of pounds are provided every year for grants funding research, education and training.
arc receives no government funding what-so-ever and relies entirely on the generosity of the general public, and are grateful to Second City for their generosity and support.

The Norman Laud Association
The Norman Laud Association goes back almost 45 years when a local councillor, Norman Laud, identified the need to support a local group of parents who had formed a nursery for disabled children. With Norman Laud’s support the nursery slowly grew and fundraising began!
Services have expanded considerably and they now offer a range of day and respite care services for children and adults with special needs. These include a day nursery for children aged 0-5 years, a bedded respite care home for children aged 0-18 years and a purpose built 8 bedded respite care home for adults aged 18 plus. Many of the guests that are cared for are profoundly disabled making the respite period invaluable to carers and guests.
The association has now expanded its services and are delighted to offer domiciliary respite care, which is proving very successful. The support of Second City is extremely important to Norman Laud and is most appreciated in the drive to raise £150,000 per year to support the services offered.
